Getting to Kastellet
Kastellet Bed & Breakfast is located within Vaxholm Fortress, a historic fortress situated on its own island at the entrance to Vaxholm. Despite its unique location, it is easy to reach whether you are travelling by car, public transport or on foot.
Once you arrive in Vaxholm, simply take the regular Waxholmsbolaget passenger ferry across to Kastellet. The crossing takes just a few minutes and is part of the experience.
By car
Follow Road 274 towards Vaxholm.
As Kastellet is located on its own island, you will need to park your car in Vaxholm before taking the ferry across.

By bus and ferry
Travelling from Stockholm is easy by public transport.
Take a bus to Vaxholm and then continue with the regular Waxholmsbolaget passenger ferry to Kastellet. The crossing takes only a few minutes.
We recommend using the SL app to plan your journey, check departure times and see which quay your ferry departs from.

✓ SL travel cards and single tickets are valid on the Waxholmsbolaget ferries to and from Kastellet.
✓ The ferry crossing takes only a few minutes.
✓ Before travelling back to Vaxholm, please turn the signal semaphore at Kastellet approximately 10 minutes before departure to let the captain know you wish to board.
✓ Taxi boats are available if you need transportation outside the regular ferry schedule.
